Pittsburgh Penguins Secure 5-2 Victory Against Toronto Maple Leafs with Bunting's Crucial Power-Play Goal

In the third period, Michael Bunting netted a power-play goal to secure a 5-2 victory for the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Rickard Rakell also scored on a power play for Pittsburgh, while Bryan Rust contributed with a goal and an assist. The team wrapped up the game with Blake Lizotte and Kris Letang scoring empty-net goals in the last minute.

Sidney Crosby achieved a milestone by equalling Gordie Howe for the fifth most assists with one franchise in league history. Goalie Tristan Jarry contributed to the win with 25 saves.

Toronto's goals came from William Nylander and Mitch Marner, with Joseph Woll recording 24 saves for the team.

This game marked the second consecutive loss for the Maple Leafs, who were on a back-to-back schedule after a 3-1 defeat at home against Washington.

The Penguins recovered from their earlier 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Friday, improving their record with five wins in their last six games.

The game-winning goal came when Bryan Rust's cross-ice pass deflected off Toronto's Connor Dewar and found its way to Bunting.

Pittsburgh has found success on power plays, scoring in seven of their last eleven games, with four out of Bunting's six goals coming from power plays.

Both teams are scheduled to play again on Tuesday night, with Toronto traveling to New Jersey and Pittsburgh hosting Colorado.
