Rangers Achieve 2-0 Shutout Against Kraken, Continue Winning Streak

Alexis Lafreniere and Zac Jones scored goals, helping the New York Rangers secure a 2-0 win against the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night. Jonathan Quick contributed by making 24 saves, achieving his second consecutive shutout and the 62nd of his career.

Philipp Grubauer made 21 saves for the Kraken, whose four-game winning streak was brought to an end. Lafreniere broke the deadlock with 2:30 left in the second period, assisted by Artemi Panarin.

Three minutes into the third period, Jones scored a second goal. This season, the Rangers have scored first in 10 out of 16 matches, maintaining an unbeaten 10-0-0 record when doing so. Seattle has experienced four shutouts in 19 games.

In the sequence leading to his goal, Jones initiated the attack from the defensive zone, completing the play after receiving a pass from Kaapo Kakko in the left circle. The Rangers have a 6-0-1 lifetime record against Seattle.

Next, the Rangers head to Vancouver on Tuesday as part of their four-game road trip. Meanwhile, the Kraken wrap up a six-game home stand on Wednesday when they face Nashville.
