New York Rangers News & Updates

Artemi Panarin played a pivotal role by equalizing the game towards the end of the third period and later clinching a win in the shootout, leading to a 3-2 victory for the New York Rangers over their adversaries, the New York Islanders.

A short-handed goal from Braden Schneider and a decisive shootout goal by Vincent Trocheck contributed to the win, while Igor Shesterkin's 33 saves helped the Rangers achieve a new team record of 54 victories for the season.

The Islanders initially took the lead with two goals by Brock Nelson in the second period. However, Panarin's late goal with just over four minutes left on the clock pushed the game into overtime. Ilya Sorokin made an impressive 40 saves for the Islanders, but it wasn't enough to extend their six-game winning streak.

Late into the third period, Adam Pelech missed a crucial penalty shot, and Mat Barzal was stopped by Shesterkin during overtime. With this performance, Panarin tops the Rangers' scoring charts with 118 points, marking points in a record-setting 66 games this season.

With their eyes set on the playoffs, the Rangers now lead the Carolina Hurricanes by three points in the Metropolitan Division. They have two more regular-season games left, including a home game against Ottawa on Monday.
