Montreal Canadiens News & Updates

The Rangers achieved a 7-2 win against the Canadiens in Montreal, beginning the match with two early goals.

Filip Chytil was outstanding for the Rangers, scoring two goals on power plays, supported by goals from Mika Zibanejad, Jonny Brodzinski, Reilly Smith, and Braden Schneider. Igor Shesterkin contributed by saving 21 shots, securing the win.

Nick Suzuki netted both of the Canadiens’ goals, marking his season’s first scores.

Even though the Canadiens managed to contain the Rangers' leading scorer Artemi Panarin, they struggled due to insufficient depth, a situation worsened by the absence of injured players Juraj Slafkovsky and Kaiden Guhle.

The goals by Zibanejad and Brodzinski at the start set the tone for the Rangers' triumph.

Sam Montembeault conceded four goals in just over 11 minutes, which led to his substitution. In his place, Cayden Primeau made 32 saves.

Upcoming games will see the Rangers facing the Panthers on Thursday, while the Canadiens will welcome the Blues on Saturday.
