The New York Rangers have placed Barclay Goodrow on waivers as part of their offseason efforts to reduce salary cap expenses and get ready for another deep playoff push. Goodrow's contract spans three years with a yearly cap hit of $3.6 million. If another NHL team claims him, this amount would be removed from the Rangers' cap. If Goodrow clears waivers, the Rangers have the option to trade him or buy out his contract. A buyout would result in a $3.9 million saving next season and different amounts in the following years, with some minor overage costs later on. Goodrow, a 31-year-old center known for his depth, has proven to be a reliable playoff performer. He has been pivotal in San Jose's 2019 Western Conference Finals run, Tampa Bay's consecutive Stanley Cup wins in 2020 and 2021, and New York's recent playoff runs. Born in Toronto, Goodrow has accumulated 169 points over 572 regular season games and 24 points in 97 playoff games since entering the league in 2014.All logos are the trademark & property of their owners and not NHL-Schedules.com.
