The Vegas Golden Knights will pay Robin Lehner the remaining $4.4 million owed on his $25 million contract for the final year. Lehner's salary will not affect Vegas' salary cap.
This agreement came after extensive discussions involving the team, the NHL, and the NHL Players' Association. Lehner, who is 33, missed the team's training camp for a specific reason known to the team, the league, and the players' association.
Lehner has yet to make a public statement. He had hip surgery in 2022 and is recuperating away from the team.
The Swedish goaltender is known for advocating mental health awareness, openly discussing his experiences with bipolar disorder, ADHD, and PTSD.
This resolution prevents the Golden Knights from needing to terminate his contract or utilize long-term injured reserve once more.
