Rookie Paul Cotter Leads Devils to Victory in Prague, Sweeping Sabres

In a triumphant game against Buffalo held in Prague, new player Paul Cotter was pivotal for New Jersey, contributing both a goal and an assist in their 3-1 victory.

Cotter also managed to score in the previous match, which ended in a 4-1 win for the Devils.

These matches are part of the NHL's global series, which includes international games in Tampere, Finland, where the current champions, Florida, take on Dallas.

Seamus Casey and Timo Meier added to New Jersey's scoreline, with Jack Hughes providing two assists. The Devils had a clear advantage in shots on goal, with 37 attempts compared to the Sabres’ 18.

Tage Thompson initially put Buffalo ahead, but his goal was quickly countered by Casey's power-play equalizer.

In the final period, Cotter delivered the decisive goal, with assistance from Jack Hughes.

New Jersey's Jake Allen performed well in goal, while Devon Levi made 34 saves for the Sabres.

JJ Peterka was forced to exit the game in the first period due to an upper-body injury and did not return.

In Prague, the Devils strengthened their defense, relying on the efforts of goalkeepers Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen, even as they missed their top defensemen.

The Sabres had difficulty capitalizing on power plays, failing to convert any of their six opportunities against the Devils.

The NHL's activities in Europe aim to widen its audience in countries with a strong hockey tradition, such as Czechia, Sweden, and Finland.

Looking ahead, the Sabres are set to host the Los Angeles Kings, whereas the Devils will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at home on Thursday.
