San Jose Sharks News & Updates

San Jose Sharks' rookie Macklin Celebrini is currently dealing with a lower-body injury, impacting his day-to-day activities.

During Tuesday's preseason game against the Utah Hockey Club, Celebrini tripped over an opponent's stick and hurt his left ankle. Although he finished the shift, he was later removed from the game as a precaution.

The Sharks' coach, Ryan Warsofsky, mentioned that Celebrini might be sidelined for the rest of the preseason and could potentially miss the start of the regular season.

The Sharks have two more preseason matches before they go up against the St. Louis Blues on October 10th.

Celebrini, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 draft, is a crucial component of the Sharks' strategy to rebuild the team.

Together with fellow freshman Will Smith, Celebrini is anticipated to spearhead a youthful transformation aimed at reinvigorating San Jose, which ended the last season with the worst record in the NHL.
