San Jose Sharks News & Updates

Center Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks, who was the top pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, is currently on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

During his first NHL appearance, Celebrini made a significant impact by scoring a goal and providing an assist in the Sharks' overtime defeat against the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately, he was added to the injured reserve list two days afterward.

Celebrini's debut showcased the second-fastest goal for a first overall draft selection, with Mario Lemieux being the only one faster. He also set a record as the youngest player to achieve two points in the first period of his debut.

To fill in for Celebrini, defenseman Jack Thompson has been called up from the San Jose Barracuda. Thompson has yet to tally a point in the NHL.
