The Seattle Kraken have secured goaltender Joey Daccord with a five-year agreement, offering $5 million per year. Daccord was on track to enter free agency this summer.
This contract for the Kraken comes after several recent deals for goalies, such as Jeremy Swayman's $8.25 million per year agreement with Boston and Linus Ullmark's identical contract with Ottawa.
Daccord, who was acquired by Seattle through the expansion draft, has become an essential player for the team. During the 2023-24 season, he achieved personal bests with 19 victories and a goals-against average of 2.46.
With this arrangement, the Kraken will have Daccord along with Philipp Grubauer as their goaltending duo for the next two years. Grubauer is scheduled to reach free agency in 2027.
Daccord's deal will constitute 12% of Seattle's salary cap allotment in the 2025-26 season, positioning the Kraken among the teams with the most significant financial commitment to goaltending.
