In the dying minutes of the game, Tye Kartye redirected Oliver Bjorkstrand's shot into the net, securing a 4-3 win for the Seattle Kraken against the Minnesota Wild. This game marked the end of the season for both teams, who didn't make the playoffs.
With only 65 seconds left and Minnesota having a two-man advantage, Brock Faber found the net to narrow the gap. However, Kraken's goalie, Joey Daccord, stood tall, making crucial saves to clinch the victory.
In a display of resilience, Brandon Tanev took a shot on his body to block it in the game's final moments, showcasing the Wild's determination.
Kirill Kaprizov opened the scoring for the Wild with his 46th goal of the season, and Mats Zuccarello tied the score in the third period. For the Kraken, Matty Beniers was instrumental, scoring twice, including a pivotal power-play goal. Kaprizov wrapped up the season with 96 points, just shy of his previous record, following a misdirected pass from Jared McCann that led to his goal.
Despite Joey Daccord's commendable performance throughout the season, the Kraken couldn't build on their previous playoff upset over Colorado. The Wild, on the other hand, faced their second playoff omission in 12 years despite an extension signed by goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who set a franchise record for wins this season.
Marc-Andre Fleury was recognized with the Tom Kurvers Humanitarian Award prior to the game and shared his thoughts on the team's failure to reach the playoffs, expressing eagerness to change fortunes next year.
