Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky decided to skip practice before Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, even though he was previously a strong candidate for the Conn Smythe Award.
The Panthers view Bobrovsky's practice absence positively. Although he performed well in the first three games, his recent statistics have dropped, with a 5.06 goals-against average and a .793 save percentage over the last three games.
Matthew Tkachuk defended Bobrovsky, saying the team's recent difficulties shouldn't be pinned on him. He stressed that they need to bolster their defensive play and avoid falling behind early.
Bobrovsky adheres to a strict routine and doesn't practice daily during the playoffs. Panthers coach Paul Maurice commended Bobrovsky's Game 6 performance despite the 5-1 loss, noting the lack of short-handed breakaways as a positive.
Maurice demonstrated confidence that the Panthers will better support Bobrovsky in Game 7, aiming to lighten his workload and enhance his chances of success.
