The San Jose Sharks have appointed Ryan Warsofsky as their new head coach. At 36 years old, Warsofsky previously served as an assistant coach for the team under David Quinn.
In his role, Warsofsky was responsible for overseeing the Sharks' defense and penalty kill. He brings a solid history of success from various levels in hockey.
Last season, the Sharks had the worst record in the NHL, which awarded them the top pick in the draft. They are anticipated to choose Boston University center Macklin Celebrini with this selection.
Warsofsky steps into a team undergoing changes, featuring a young roster with players like Thomas Bordeleau, William Eklund, Mario Ferraro, and Will Smith.
The Sharks, who were consistently a playoff team, have missed the playoffs only twice from 2003-04 to 2018-19. Warsofsky's goal will be to guide the Sharks back to their previous playoff form.
