Pittsburgh Penguins News & Updates

Sidney Crosby, the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is confident that a contract extension will be finalized before the season begins on October 9.

Crosby has been eligible to negotiate a new contract since July 1 and is in the final year of his current 12-year, $104.4 million deal.

Even though the team has missed the playoffs for the past two seasons, Crosby remains optimistic about their potential and emphasizes the importance of consistency.

At the age of 37, Crosby is nearing 1,600 career points and continues to perform at a high level.

The Penguins, however, face the challenge of balancing competitiveness with an aging core, which includes players like Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson.

Despite the recent acquisition of new players, Crosby believes that the team can restructure its roster while still maintaining a winning mindset.
