Sidney Crosby propelled the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens by scoring twice. This achievement placed him in a tie with Sergei Fedorov and Joe Nieuwendyk for 14th on the NHL's all-time game-winning goals list. Additionally, Crosby moved ahead of Luc Robitaille for 13th in even-strength goals.
Kris Letang contributed an assist during his 1,100th regular-season game, collaborating with Crosby during the decisive moment. In goal, Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 25 shots for the Penguins, while Sam Montembeault saved 21 shots for the Canadiens.
The win was the Penguins' second in a row, following a six-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Canadiens experienced their third straight defeat, having conceded at least six goals in each of their previous two losses.
Letang became the first defenseman for the Penguins to play in 1,100 regular-season games, alongside being the 73rd player in NHL history to achieve this milestone.
Looking ahead, the Canadiens are scheduled to host Calgary on Tuesday, while the Penguins will travel to face the New York Islanders as they embark on a three-game road trip.
