New York Rangers News & Updates

Sidney Crosby played a pivotal role with two goals and an assist, contributing to the Pittsburgh Penguins' 5-2 victory over New York, effectively halting the Rangers' consecutive five wins. Alex Nedeljkovic's performance was notable as well, stopping 28 shots.

Bryan Rust matched Crosby's efficacy by netting two goals himself, and Emil Bemstrom also found the back of the net, aiding Pittsburgh in breaking a losing streak of four games in New York contests. Crosby's track record against the Rangers improved, showcasing his effectiveness in their matchups.

The Rangers saw goals from Kaapo Kakko and Jack Roslovic, though their goalkeeper, Igor Shesterkin, had a challenging game, letting in five goals from 16 attempts. The Penguins sealed their win by scoring twice into an empty net in the game's concluding moments.

Notably, last season marked the first time the Penguins missed the playoffs with Crosby, who at 36, continues to demonstrate his enduring prowess by averaging a point per game for the 19th season, equalling Wayne Gretzky's record. Despite the setback, the Penguins are at risk of not making the playoffs once more.

The Rangers had been on a strong run, securing wins in 11 of their previous 13 home games and gaining points in the vast majority of their recent matches. However, this defeat posed a challenge to their momentum.

Looking ahead, the Penguins are set to face off against New Jersey on Tuesday, following which the Rangers will also play the Devils, hosting them on Wednesday.
