In St. Paul, Minnesota, the Minnesota Wild secured a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday thanks to an overtime goal by Jared Spurgeon.
The Wild's victory was also supported by goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Declan Chisholm, contributing to their strong recent performance with a 5-1-1 record over the last seven games. Filip Gustavsson played a key role by making 25 saves in goal.
The Predators responded with goals from Fedor Svechkov and Ryan O'Reilly, while Roman Josi contributed two assists. Despite their efforts, Nashville is currently struggling with a four-game losing streak, with the last three losses occurring in overtime. Juuse Saros also made 25 saves for the Predators.
Spurgeon, who had scored twice in Friday's win against Chicago, capitalized on a pass from Kaprizov, finishing with a high wrist shot in the slot to clinch the game, marking his third goal of the season.
Nashville continues to have difficulty with road games, holding the league's lowest number of road wins at two. This defeat marks the start of a four-game road trip for the team.
Although the Wild faced a Central Division team in a slump, they found it challenging to claim the win. Nevertheless, they improved to a 5-1-2 record when tied after the second period and achieved their second overtime victory this season.
As the third period was winding down, Zachary L'Heureux attempted a wrist shot on Gustavsson, but the Wild goalie successfully blocked it, maintaining the tied score.
Notably, the Predators have struggled in overtime this season, holding a 1-6 record, with each of those six losses ending with a 3-2 scoreline.
