Kasperi Kapanen and Robert Thomas found the net in the opening period for the St. Louis Blues, leading to a halt in their three-game slide with a 5-1 win over the Boston Bruins. Goalie Joel Hofer was instrumental, saving 36 shots for the Blues.
Further contributing to St. Louis' victory were Kevin Hayes, Brandon Saad, and Alexey Toropchenko, helping the team's record improve to 26-3-1 for games in which they score first.
For the Bruins, David Pastrnak managed to score, but it wasn't enough to extend their winning streak beyond two games. Despite the loss, Boston is still on track to clinch the NHL's top record.
Next up, the Blues will play host to the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, and the Bruins are set to face the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
