Jordan Binnington's impressive 40 saves, combined with two goals from Dylan Holloway, along with contributions from Philip Broberg, Alexandre Texier, and Jake Neighbours, secured a 5-1 win for St. Louis against Toronto, disrupting Craig Berube's return to his previous team.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored the sole goal for Toronto, with Joseph Woll making 22 saves in his first start of the season.
The game opened with St. Louis on the scoreboard after Broberg netted a power-play goal, which was quickly followed by a goal from Holloway. Ekman-Larsson managed to level the score briefly, but Texier ensured St. Louis regained the lead before the end of the second period.
Despite having a power-play chance in the second period, Toronto was unable to take advantage, extending their power-play issues to 0-for-3 for the night and a disappointing 3-for-26 for the season.
The acquisition of Broberg from Edmonton has been beneficial for St. Louis, with the defenseman contributing seven points over eight games.
Toronto is set to begin a two-game trip heading to Boston on Saturday, while St. Louis will continue their road trip with a game in Montreal.
