During the Thursday evening match, Joel Hofer's impressive performance with 37 saves led the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 win against the Ottawa Senators.
The scoring for the Blues was diversified with Jake Neighbours netting two goals, and Jordan Kyrou, Brandon Saad, and Colton Parayko each adding one. For Ottawa, contributions came from Mark Kastelic and Dominik Kubalik, while goaltender Anton Forsberg stopped 22 shots.
A significant goal by Kyrou early in the third period pushed the Blues further ahead, and Neighbours clinched the victory with a goal on an empty net later on.
This victory placed the Blues in a more advantageous position in the race for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, surpassing Minnesota and closing in within two points of Las Vegas.
Zach Dean made his first appearance in an NHL game for the Blues, stepping in for the injured Oskar Sundqvist. Dean came from a background of playing junior hockey with the Gatineau Olympiques.
Looking forward, the Blues are set to go head-to-head with Minnesota on Saturday, whereas the Senators will be heading to New Jersey for their next game on the same night.
