Montreal Canadiens News & Updates

Martin St. Louis, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, is back with the team after stepping away to be with his family following his son's injury and the ensuing issues from playing hockey.

For the upcoming match against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, St. Louis will take up his coaching duties once again. During his time away, the Canadiens recorded a performance of 1 win, 2 losses, and 1 overtime loss under the guidance of Trevor Letowski.

The 48-year-old St. Louis, who previously enjoyed a prosperous career as a player, took over as interim coach in 2022 following the release of Dominique Ducharme and was awarded a three-year extension to his contract in June of the same year.

Prior to his coaching career, St. Louis had an impressive run as a player, securing 1,033 points over 1,134 regular-season appearances. His accolades include winning the Stanley Cup and the Hart Trophy with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004, and he was honoured with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
