Stuart Skinner is set to be the starting goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers in the upcoming Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinal face-off with the Vancouver Canucks.
In the third game of the series, Skinner conceded four goals, leading to a loss for Edmonton. Following this, Calvin Pickard was chosen as the goaltender for the subsequent two matches. Despite this change, the Oilers were defeated in Game 5, leaving the Canucks ahead with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Expressing his feelings about the situation, Skinner mentioned his eagerness to return to the goal and contribute to his team's efforts.
At the age of 25, Skinner was the initial choice for goalie in the first eight matches of the playoffs for the Oilers, where he achieved a 5-3 win-loss record. His performance statistics during the playoffs include a goals-against average of 3.23 and a save percentage of .877.
Over the course of the regular season, Skinner played in 59 games, managing a record of 36 wins, 16 losses, and 5 overtime/shootout losses. He also recorded a 2.62 goals-against average and a save percentage of .905.
