Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery opines that the Toronto Maple Leafs might be feeling unsettled due to the commanding performances of goaltender Jeremy Swayman, highlighted by Max Domi's confrontation with Swayman during a game break in Game 3.
Montgomery interprets Domi's behavior as a sign that Swayman, boasting an impeccable 5-0-0 season record against Toronto, has managed to psychologically impact the Leafs' players. His observation is reinforced by Trent Frederic, who believes the Leafs' mounting frustration is a direct result of Swayman's effective goalkeeping.
Despite the Leafs' attempts to disrupt him, Swayman remained focused, securing 28 saves in Game 3 and propelling Boston to a 2-1 lead in the series. Toronto's difficulty in netting more than three goals per playoff game continues, a streak persisting even when facing Boston.
In contrast, Leafs' coach Sheldon Keefe refutes the idea that Swayman's performance has demoralized his team, dismissing Domi's clash with the goaltender as typical playoff intensity. Keefe also downplays concerns over his team's scoring capabilities.
The Leafs are hopeful that their scoring may see an uptick with William Nylander returning to the lineup after being sidelined for the first three games due to an unspecified injury.
As for Boston's goaltending strategy for Game 4, Montgomery has yet to announce whether Swayman or Linus Ullmark will be in the net, as both goalies have seen substantial playtime throughout the season.
