The Swedish goaltender Hugo Ollas was signed to a two-year entry-level agreement by the New York Rangers.
At 21 years of age, Ollas had an impressive stint at Merrimack College where he appeared in 21 games, achieving a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.84 and a save percentage of .908. Over his three seasons with the Warriors, spanning 64 games, his performance included a balanced 27-27 win-loss record, a GAA of 2.48, a save percentage of .914, and a total of six shutouts.
During the 2022-23 season, Ollas managed a record of 10-9, a save percentage of .915, and secured five shutouts. Before his time at Merrimack, he gained experience in the Swedish Hockey League, playing 11 games in the 2020-21 season, and also represented Sweden at the U17 international level.
Ollas was selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
