Tampa Bay Lightning News & Updates

The Tampa Bay Lightning's initial home game with the Carolina Hurricanes has been rescheduled because of the effects of Hurricane Milton on the Tampa Bay region.

The city was extensively impacted by Milton, resulting in structural damage, including to Tropicana Field where the Tampa Bay Rays play.

Lightning's coach, Jon Cooper, voiced worries about the team members' families and residences, many of which remained without electricity.

Tampa Bay will now start the season playing against Carolina on Friday and will face the Vancouver Canucks in their first home game on Tuesday.

Team captain Victor Hedman recognized the emotional strain caused by the hurricane but stressed the importance of focusing on the upcoming game and helping those in need.

The Lightning also had to cancel their final preseason match with Nashville because of Milton.

In Ottawa, there was a moment of silence before the match against Florida to honor those affected by Milton.
