New York Islanders News & Updates

Matthew Tkachuk scored twice and Sam Bennett provided the pivotal goal in the third period, guiding the Florida Panthers to a 6-3 comeback victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Adding to the Panthers' scores were Sam Reinhart, Mackie Samoskevich, and Gustav Forsling. Dmitry Kulikov and Anton Lundell each recorded two assists, while Spencer Knight made 25 saves in the game.

For the Islanders, goals came from Dennis Cholowski, Kyle Palmieri, and Brock Nelson. However, they squandered an early 3-0 advantage, allowing the Panthers to score six consecutive times.

Knight rebounded by stopping 22 straight shots after initially conceding three goals on the first seven faced. The Islanders' struggles to maintain leads have been ongoing since Lane Lambert assumed the coaching role.

With captain Aleksander Barkov out, Bennett has taken on a critical role, tallying goals in four consecutive games, including the decisive one against the Islanders.

A significant moment was when Tkachuk scored to cut the deficit to one, sparking a shift in momentum that enabled Florida to overcome the Islanders' lead.

The Islanders have managed to score three or more goals in five of their eight matches, though they have also been shut out in three games.

Next, the Panthers will travel to Buffalo on Tuesday, while the Islanders will finish their two-game home series against Anaheim.
