Tampa Bay Lightning News & Updates

Brady Tkachuk led the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning by netting a decisive goal during a shootout.

Nikita Kucherov played a pivotal role for the Lightning, providing two assists and edging closer to a season total of 100 assists, a feat accomplished by only a select few players. Brayden Point commended Kucherov for his incredible performance. Ottawa's scoring efforts were also supported by Drake Batherson and goaltender Anton Forsberg, who stopped 24 shots.

With a playoff position already secured, Tampa Bay chose to rest their main goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, giving Matt Tomkins a chance to contribute with 25 saves. The Lightning's goals came courtesy of Conor Sheary and Brayden Point.

The Senators managed to level the scores early in the third quarter thanks to Batherson, after Tkachuk had initially put them in the lead. Despite Kucherov's assists for Sheary and Point that swung the advantage to the Lightning with a 2-1 lead in the first period, Ottawa was successful in neutralizing Tampa Bay's effective power play throughout the game.

Both teams faced challenges with injuries; Ottawa was without Tim Stützle for the fourth consecutive game, and Tampa Bay's lineup changed due to foot injuries to Tyler Motte and Erik Cernak, in addition to Steven Stamkos's goal streak coming to an end.

The Senators are set to host Montreal in their upcoming home finale on Saturday, while the Lightning will face off against Washington on the same day.
