Washington Capitals News & Updates

Washington Capitals player Tom Wilson has received a six-game suspension due to a high stick incident involving Noah Gregor of the Toronto Maple Leafs, where Gregor was hit in the head.

This marks Wilson's sixth suspension, with the most recent one prior to this occurring in 2021. During the incident, after colliding with Gregor, Wilson unintentionally hit Gregor's face with his stick, for which he has since shown regret.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety pointed out Wilson's failure to maintain control in the situation and his history of disciplinary issues as reasons for the suspension, stating he breached the league's player safety standards.

The Capitals will feel the impact of Wilson's absence as they compete for a position in the wild-card race in the Eastern Conference.
