New Jersey Devils News & Updates

The Washington Capitals claimed a 6-5 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night, thanks to Tom Wilson's goal in overtime.

Alex Ovechkin netted his first goal of the season, bringing him 41 goals away from Wayne Gretzky's all-time record. Andrew Mangiapane, Connor McMichael, and Dylan Strome also added goals for the Capitals.

For the Devils, Nico Hischier contributed with two goals and an assist. Logan Thompson saved 26 shots for Washington, whereas Jacob Markstrom made 31 saves for New Jersey.

Despite the Devils overcoming a 3-1 early deficit to equalize at 5-5 in the third period, Wilson's decisive goal in overtime secured the victory for the Capitals.

Wilson's achievement of scoring in four consecutive games matches a franchise record for Washington, and his 758th game appearance with the team ties him with Mike Gartner for ninth place on the all-time list.

Looking ahead, the Capitals are set to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, while the Devils will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at home.
