Tampa Bay Lightning News & Updates

Tom Wilson netted a power-play goal in the closing minutes of the third period, securing a 5-4 win for the Washington Capitals against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This victory marked Washington's sixth consecutive road win.

A double-minor penalty assessed to Anthony Cirelli provided the Capitals with a power-play opportunity. Wilson capitalized by deflecting a shot from Jakob Chychrun, leading to the decisive goal.

Other goal scorers for Washington included Aliaksei Protas, Andrew Mangiapane, Dylan Strome, and John Carlson. For Tampa Bay, Brayden Point achieved a hat trick, while Michael Eyssimont also found the net.

Throughout the game, the Lightning held leads of 2-0, 3-2, and 4-3, but the Capitals consistently battled back to even the score.

Since Alex Ovechkin's injury, Washington has managed to score two power-play goals across four games.

This game marked the 900th regular season appearance for Lightning head coach Jon Cooper.

After a mistake by Lindgren gave Tampa Bay the lead, the Capitals quickly equalized with a goal from Carlson just three minutes afterward.

Point increased his total of league-leading power-play goals to eight.

The Capitals are set to face the New York Islanders at home on Friday, while the Lightning will travel to play in Nashville.
