Two goals in the third period by Tom Wilson spearheaded the Washington Capitals' 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Additional contributions came from Pierre-Luc Dubois, Dylan Strome, and Aliaksei Protas, helping the Capitals recover from an initial 2-0 disadvantage. Logan Thompson, guarding Washington's net, made 22 saves and played a crucial role in maintaining their nine-game road winning streak and extending their point streak to six.

The first period saw Alex Newhook and Cole Caufield score for Montreal, though Sam Montembault was unable to maintain the lead. Dubois evened the score early in the second, and Wilson delivered the pivotal goal with just over eight minutes left in the game.

Montreal's coach, Martin St. Louis, commended his squad's effort in zone entry during transitions, while Capitals' coach, Peter Laviolette, praised his team's determination despite the absence of key players.

Logan Thompson's four critical breakaway saves in the third period were vital in securing the Capitals' victory.

Washington's offensive momentum continues as they have now scored 28 goals over their last seven games.

The Capitals are set to visit Columbus on Thursday, whereas the Canadiens will play host to Anaheim on Monday.
