The Philadelphia Eagles achieved a decisive win against the Washington Commanders, advancing to a 2-0 record in the preseason.
Guided by quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles' offense demonstrated its effectiveness. Hurts completed 19 out of 26 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, highlighting his precision and leadership skills.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith became a significant target for Hurts, catching five passes for 65 yards, which included an important 33-yard touchdown. Tight end Dallas Goedert also played a role by catching four passes totaling 48 yards.
The Eagles' defense was equally strong, causing three turnovers. Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson intercepted a pass and returned it 61 yards, setting up a touchdown, while linebacker T.J. Edwards and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu each recovered a fumble.
The Commanders faced challenges on both offense and defense. Quarterback Carson Wentz threw two interceptions, one of which was Gardner-Johnson's return for a score. The running game also struggled as running back Brian Robinson Jr. gained just 19 yards on eight carries.
The Eagles' triumph reflects their preparation and depth. With a balanced offense and a defense ready to take advantage of opportunities, they are well-positioned for the upcoming regular season.
