Mitch Marner quickly secured a win for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Edmonton Oilers, scoring just 40 seconds into overtime on Saturday night, resulting in a 4-3 triumph.
During the game, Edmonton lost Darnell Nurse in the second period due to an injury from a hit by Ryan Reaves. Toronto's Bobby McMann found the net twice, with contributions from Matthew Knies and Anthony Stolarz helping to secure the win.
For Edmonton, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each delivered a goal and an assist. Knies and McMann scored in rapid succession, just 59 seconds apart in the third period, but Draisaitl managed to equalize with less than two minutes left in regular time.
Marner finalized the victory in overtime during a 2-on-1 play with John Tavares.
Auston Matthews was absent from the game, marking another miss for Toronto. Edmonton presented an unusual lineup with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, which was notable in the match.
A defining incident was Darnell Nurse's injury from Reaves' hit, which resulted in a match penalty. Additionally, Max Domi extended his point drought to 13 games.
Looking ahead, Edmonton will face Montreal on Monday, while Toronto is set to play against Vegas at home on Wednesday.
