Philadelphia Flyers News & Updates

The Philadelphia Flyers have secured Travis Konecny's services for the long haul by agreeing to an eight-year extension valued at $70 million.

Konecny, an All-Star and a key player for the team, will be earning $8.75 million against the salary cap starting in the 2025-26 season, making him the highest-paid player on the Flyers.

After setting personal records last season, Konecny described the decision to stay as straightforward and expressed his desire to remain with the Flyers for as long as possible.

General manager Daniel Briere highlighted Konecny's leadership and talent, underlining his significance to the team's future success.

Despite being mentioned in trade rumors, Konecny stated he was not troubled by the speculation and was confident a deal would eventually be reached.

Konecny is now part of a core group of players committed to the Flyers for several years, including Sean Couturier, Joel Farabee, Owen Tippett, and Travis Sanheim.

The team's future was further strengthened with the addition of top prospect Matvei Michkov, the seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft.

Konecny voiced his enthusiasm about aiding Michkov's development and contributing to the Flyers' push to return to the playoffs.
