Tyler Seguin scored twice, and Jake Oettinger made 34 saves, achieving his 11th career shutout as the Dallas Stars secured a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday night.
Seguin got the game's first goal in the opening period with an assist from Mason Marchment. Jamie Benn increased Dallas' lead in the second period, and Marchment aided again on Seguin's empty-net goal in the final minute.
Oettinger's performance in October games now boasts a record of 11-1-1.
Matt Dumba experienced limited playtime due to a lower body injury, while the Islanders showed improvement in their penalty kill following a subpar showing in their prior game.
Even though they were outshot 33-27, the Stars have emerged victorious in both of their season's opening matches.
The Islanders are set to visit Colorado on Monday, whereas the Stars will host Seattle on Sunday.
