In Columbus, Ohio, Tyler Toffoli played a pivotal role in the Winnipeg Jets' dominant 6-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets this Sunday.
With a performance highlighted by two goals and an assist from Toffoli, the Jets saw additional contributions from Nikolaj Ehlers, who netted a goal and an assist. Kyle Connor, Logan Stanley, and Vladislav Namestnikov each found the back of the net, while Sean Monahan set up two goals. The defensive efforts were anchored by Connor Hellebuyck's 30 saves in goal for Winnipeg.
The only goal for the Blue Jackets came from Brendan Gaunce as goalie Elvis Merzlikins made 21 saves. This marked the fourth loss in the last five games for Columbus.
A flurry of four goals in the second period by the Jets set the tone for their victory. The sequence began with a wrist shot by Connor, followed by successful strikes from Ehlers, Toffoli, Stanley, and Namestnikov.
Though Gaunce managed to score for Columbus in the early moments of the third period, Toffoli sealed the win for Winnipeg with his second goal of the game with just over two minutes left to play.
Following this victory, the Jets now share the lead in the Central Division with the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche. Their next game is scheduled against the New York Rangers on Tuesday, whereas the Blue Jackets are set to face the Detroit Red Wings.
