The 4 Nations Face-Off tournament will name its champion at TD Garden in Boston in February 2025. The NHL and NHLPA have announced a new international competition featuring teams from the United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweden. This round-robin event will take place from February 12-20, 2025. Four games are scheduled to be played at Bell Centre, home to the Montreal Canadiens. TD Garden, the home arena of the Boston Bruins, will host the Canada-Finland and U.S.-Sweden round-robin games and the championship game on February 20. This tournament will provide players with international competition ahead of the 2026 Olympics. The top two teams from the round-robin stage will move on to a one-game final. The first six players from each team will be revealed on June 28. The NHL and NHLPA decided not to include semifinals or a consolation game due to the tournament's short duration. Despite the presence of prominent NHL players, teams from Czechia, Germany, and Switzerland will not be part of the tournament. The salary cap for the 2024-25 season has been set at $88 million, surpassing earlier projections. The NHL and NHLPA are looking into changes to long-term injured reserve (LTIR) rules, but no specific timeline has been set. No timeline for future NHL expansion has been set, although the league continues to receive interest from potential new markets. The NHL and NHLPA have commended the successful relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Utah, noting early success in season ticket sales. The situation remains unchanged for the four players charged in the sexual assault investigation involving Canada's 2018 world juniors hockey team.
