This game marks the NHL's arrival in Salt Lake City following the team's move from Arizona. On the same evening, the Florida Panthers will celebrate their first Stanley Cup victory by raising their championship banner in Sunrise, Florida, before competing against the Boston Bruins. The NHL has announced the home openers for all 32 teams, with the full 1,312-game schedule expected to be released later this week. Utah, which plans to select a permanent team name by the 2025-26 season, will play its home games at the Delta Center, where the Utah Jazz currently play. The arena will undergo renovations to improve sightlines for NHL games. Although the venue will accommodate 16,200 fans for the inaugural season, not all seats provide a direct view of the ice. Nevertheless, interest has been strong, with 30,000 season tickets already reserved. Chris Armstrong, president of hockey operations, expressed excitement about the upcoming season, stating that the hockey world will be focused on Utah when they host the Blackhawks on that historic night. Rivalry Night will feature notable matchups, including the New York Rangers visiting Pittsburgh, Toronto taking on Montreal, and Colorado traveling to Vegas. The game between the Avalanche and the Golden Knights will see the 2022 and 2023 Cup champions go head-to-head.
