Nikita Zadorov led the Vancouver Canucks to a triumphant 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens with two goals in the first period. In goal for the Canucks, Casey DeSmith blocked 16 shots, compared to Sam Montembeault of the Canadiens, who made 21 saves.
Additional offensive support for Vancouver came from Conor Garland, Nils Aman, and Ilya Mikheyev, with Mikheyev providing two assists. The sole goal for Montreal was netted by Juraj Slafkovsky.
In a dominating last period, the Canucks restricted Montreal to just three shots. Zadorov was first to score with a distant shot that flew past Montembeault's glove late in the first period. Shortly after, he scored again from an odd-man rush. Garland then widened the Canucks' lead in the second period before Slafkovsky reduced the deficit for Montreal. Aman clinched the win for Vancouver with a deflected goal off Tyler Myers' shot during the third period, marking his first goal in 24 games.
Looking ahead, the Canadiens are set to play against Seattle on Sunday night, while the Canucks will be hosting Calgary on Saturday night.
