Vancouver Canucks Extend Contract for Goaltender Arturs Silovs, Eyeing Full-Time NHL Role

The Vancouver Canucks have secured 23-year-old goaltender Arturs Silovs with a two-year contract as of Tuesday.

During the 2023-24 season with the Canucks, Silovs managed a 3-0-1 record, achieving a 2.47 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage.

Playing in 34 games for the Canucks' AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, Silovs recorded a 16-11-6 record, along with a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

General manager Patrick Allvin commended Silovs' performance and potential for growth. He mentioned that Silovs is expected to compete for a permanent spot on the main team during training camp.

Although the specifics of the contract were kept private, it's reported to have an average annual value of $850,000.

Silovs, selected by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 2019 draft, made his NHL debut in the 2022-23 season, finishing with a 3-2-0 record, a 2.75 GAA, and a .908 save percentage.
