Vancouver Canucks News & Updates

In the opening game of their second-round playoff series, Conor Garland played a pivotal role in a thrilling come-from-behind victory for the Vancouver Canucks. With just 5:34 remaining, Garland netted a crucial goal, enabling his team to erase a three-goal deficit and secure a 5-4 win against the Edmonton Oilers.

Garland, after receiving a slick pass from Dakota Joshua, fooled the defense with a clever slap shot from the right circle before dashing towards the net to slot a wrist shot through the legs of goaltender Stuart Skinner from a tight angle. This goal marked the Canucks' second in just 39 seconds and their third within a span of 4:48.

The Canucks' rally began late in the second period when Elias Lindholm found the back of the net, cutting the lead to three goals. J.T. Miller added another for Vancouver 9:38 into the third period to make it 4-3, and Nikita Zadorov leveled the scores with only 6:13 left on the clock.

Dakota Joshua not only scored early in the second but also set up Lindholm's goal, playing a crucial role in the Canucks' offensive efforts. Arturs Silovs, in goal, turned away 14 shots for Vancouver. For the Oilers, Zach Hyman stood out, scoring twice and leading the playoff goals tally with nine.

Despite a sluggish first period, Vancouver dominated the shots on goal in the final two periods. Prior to this match, Edmonton had a six-day rest period after their series win over Los Angeles, while Vancouver had just clinched their series against Nashville the previous Friday evening.
