The Vancouver Canucks completed a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, sending defenseman Tucker Poolman and a 2025 NHL draft fourth-round pick in exchange for Erik Brannstrom.
The Canucks will cover 20% of Poolman's $3 million salary for the current season.
Brannstrom, a 25-year-old defenseman from Sweden, has joined the Avalanche following a six-season stint with the Ottawa Senators.
Over his career of 266 games, Brannstrom has accumulated 69 points, including seven goals and 62 assists.
The Canucks moved Poolman to create more room under the salary cap. Poolman, who has been sidelined since October 2022, is dealing with health issues like migraines and neurological problems stemming from concussions.
At the age of 31, Poolman played in 163 games for both the Winnipeg Jets and the Canucks, totaling 23 points with six goals and 17 assists.
