In Las Vegas, Brett Howden netted two goals and Mark Stone added a goal along with two assists, helping the Vegas Golden Knights secure a 7-3 win over the still winless San Jose Sharks.
In his first season game, William Karlsson notched both a goal and an assist. Other goals for the Knights came from Tanner Pearson, Jack Eichel, and Pavel Dorofeyev. Ilya Samsonov successfully blocked 24 shots.
For the Sharks, goals were scored by Mikael Granlund, Nico Sturm, and Luke Kunin, with Vitek Vanecek stopping 35 shots.
The Sharks set a record by becoming the first NHL team to drop their first nine season-opening matches. Historically, only ten teams have begun with ten games without a victory.
For the first time in his career, Tomas Hertl faced the Sharks at the opening puck drop, achieving two assists and extending his point streak to three games.
Vanecek's unsuccessful attempt to handle the puck after Granlund's goal allowed Karlsson to score, reinstating the Knights' lead by three goals.
Howden and Karlsson became the 13th and 12th players, respectively, from the Golden Knights to register multi-point games this season.
Next, the Golden Knights are set to host Calgary on Monday, whereas the Sharks will journey to Utah.
