Winnipeg Jets News & Updates

The Winnipeg Jets confirmed their spot in the playoffs and dashed the Calgary Flames' wild-card hopes by triumphing 5-2 on a Thursday evening, wrapping up a series of five home games.

Gabe Vilardi was at the forefront for the Jets, netting three goals, one of which was into an empty net towards the game's end. Nikolaj Ehlers and Tyler Toffoli contributed to the score sheet, and Connor Hellebuyck saved 31 attempts on goal.

For the Flames, goals came from Martin Pospisil and MacKenzie Weegar, while goaltender Dustin Wolf made 40 saves. Toffoli's goal on a power play pushed Winnipeg ahead in the later phases of the second period, and a subsequent goal from Vilardi in the third period widened their lead.

During the match, Pospisil was penalized with a major penalty and a game misconduct for elbowing Morrissey in the head, following a video review.

Looking forward, the Flames are set to play host to Edmonton on Saturday, while the Jets are on the road, facing Minnesota that same day.
