In a match on Saturday night, Liam Ohgren achieved his inaugural NHL goal, propelling the Minnesota Wild to a 6-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
Ohgren, who was selected in the first round of the 2022 draft, contributed an assist in the first period before netting a goal towards the end of the second. Kirill Kaprizov also made a significant impact by scoring twice in the last minute of the second period, bolstering the Wild's performance.
Additional goals for Minnesota were secured by Matt Boldy, Declan Chisholm, and Marcus Johansson. Goalkeeper Jesper Wallstedt also played a pivotal role, stopping 27 shots to claim his second win in his career.
For the Sharks, Jan Rutta and Mario Ferraro managed to get on the scoreboard, while Mikael Granlund continued his impressive run, registering two assists to extend his point streak to 11 games.
This defeat for San Jose guarantees them the highest probability, at 25.5%, of securing the top pick in the NHL draft lottery, which could result in them selecting Macklin Celebrini.
Next up, the Wild will head to Los Angeles to face off on Monday, the same day the Sharks are set to compete against Edmonton.
