Buffalo Sabres News & Updates

Adam Lowry's overtime goal ended the Winnipeg Jets' four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.

Winnipeg's goals also came from Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor, while Connor Hellebuyck stopped 28 shots. The Jets were experiencing their longest losing streak of the season, which resulted in a record of 4-7-0 after initially starting 15-1-0.

The Buffalo Sabres, without a win in their past five games (0-3-2), received goals from Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen matched Hellebuyck with 28 saves for Buffalo's side.

Adam Lowry's decisive goal followed a rebound from Josh Morrissey's shot, slipping past Luukkonen in the crease.

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff reached a milestone, becoming the fourth coach in history to reach 1,800 games behind the bench, joining the ranks of Barry Trotz, Paul Maurice, and Scotty Bowman.

Jets' improvements were evident as they scored more than one goal in three of their last seven games, leading to two wins. Conversely, the Sabres snapped a 16-game power play drought thanks to Thompson's first-period goal.

A crucial moment came when Tyson Kozak's potential goal in the third period was reversed due to goalie interference caused by Beck Malenstyn.

This five-game winless streak is Buffalo's longest since an eight-game stretch in November 2022. Looking forward, the Sabres will continue their five-game homestand against Utah, while the Jets are set to play against the Blackhawks in Chicago.
