Brenden Dillon, the defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets, will not participate in Game 4 against the Colorado Avalanche because of a hand injury that needed stitching.
The injury occurred to Dillon during an altercation following the Avalanche's win in Game 3, where he was observed to be bleeding profusely and had to seek urgent care.
With the Jets currently behind 2-1 in the series, they are hopeful for Dillon's return in time for Game 5 on their home ice. In the meantime, Logan Stanley will step in to fill Dillon's spot on the team.
Despite Dillon's keenness to get back into the game, the extensive stitching from his injury has the medical team advising caution. Dillon has been a key player in the series, providing three assists, and during the season, he scored eight goals and made 12 assists.
The Jets are also making strategic adjustments to their lineup by bringing in Axel Jonsson-Fjallby in place of David Gustafsson, aiming to compete with the Avalanche's high-speed game.
