The New Jersey Devils quickly netted three goals within the first 5 minutes of the second period, overcoming a 2-2 deadlock and securing a 6-2 victory over the Dallas Stars. Jake Allen contributed significantly with 35 saves for the Devils, despite the team being outshot 37-20 by the Stars. The rapid scoring spree in the second period was initiated by Dawson Mercer, followed by Timo Meier, and Tomas Nosek for the Devils. Both Meier and Chris Tierney recorded a goal and an assist each, as the Devils saw an improvement in their record to 2-3-0 under the guidance of interim coach Travis Green. On the other side, Wyatt Johnston and Craig Smith managed to score for the Stars, who saw their season record adjust to 43-30-5.
