The Edmonton Oilers claimed their first victory of the season with a 4-3 overtime win against the Philadelphia Flyers. Leon Draisaitl clinched the win by scoring 56 seconds into overtime, capitalizing on a rebound off Connor McDavid’s shot. Adam Henrique, Connor Brown, and Evan Bouchard also found the net for the Oilers. For the Flyers, Matvei Michkov and Bobby Brink were the goal scorers. In the third period, Draisaitl's backhand pass to McDavid set up Bouchard’s goal, which tied the game and prevented the Oilers from becoming just the third team in franchise history to start the season 0-4.
