Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews broke out of his season-long slump by scoring a goal and providing two assists, leading his team to a 6-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings. Matthews' contributions, including a goal and two power-play assists, helped the Maple Leafs achieve their third consecutive win following an opening loss. Bobby McMann scored twice in the first period for Toronto, with Morgan Rielly, William Nylander, and John Tavares also finding the net. Anthony Stolarz secured the win with 32 saves, while Mitch Marner added three assists. The Maple Leafs' strong offensive performance forced the Kings to pull their starting goalie, David Rittich, with Pheonix Copley conceding two goals in relief. For the Kings, Alex Turcotte and Kevin Fiala scored in the third period, in a game where they had only allowed seven goals in their previous four outings under new coach Craig Berube. Matthews also became the fourth player in Maple Leafs history to score 200 goals on home ice. The Maple Leafs are set to host Edmonton on Saturday, and the Kings will play against Montreal on Thursday. Read the full game analysis.
